Accessibility statement

We want every person in Kenya to be able to order food, groceries and essentials — regardless of ability.

Our standard

Doodle aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make digital content more accessible to people with disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive and neurological disabilities.

What we do

  • Keyboard navigation — All interactive elements on this website (links, buttons, forms) are reachable and usable with a keyboard alone.
  • Screen reader support — We use semantic HTML, ARIA labels and skip-to-content links so assistive technologies can interpret our pages.
  • Colour contrast — Text and background colour combinations meet the WCAG AA minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text.
  • Responsive design — Pages reflow and remain usable at up to 400 percent zoom without horizontal scrolling.
  • Form labels — Every form field has a visible label and clear error messages.
  • Alt text — All meaningful images include descriptive alternative text.

Mobile apps

The Doodle customer app and driver app follow the same accessibility principles. Both apps support system-level font scaling, screen reader announcements (TalkBack and VoiceOver) and high-contrast mode.

Known limitations

We are aware of the following areas where improvements are in progress:

  • Some older blog images may lack descriptive alt text. We are auditing all media and updating these.
  • The embedded Google Maps component on the order tracking screen relies on a third-party library whose accessibility is outside our direct control. We provide a text-based address as a fallback.

Feedback and contact

If you experience any accessibility barrier on our website or apps, please let us know. We take every report seriously and will work to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
